Quota is made up of volunteers in action who aim at empowering women, children, the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired. Members are helping to change millions of lives in local communities and internationally. We have had a club in Central Oregon (QICO) for 40+ years and Quota International will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2019!
We asked Margi, Marketing Committee Chair, “So, what IS Quota?” and this was her response:
“I’m glad you asked! We are a local chapter of an international women’s organization that raises funds for scholarships for women and disadvantaged youth. We also have a strong commitment to helping people who are deaf, hearing or speech impaired. The word ‘quota’ is from Latin and it means ‘a share’.”
Quota International, Inc. is a non-profit organization empowering women, children, the deaf, hard of hearing, and speech impaired in local communities around the world. In 1919, five business women inspired to serve, founded Quota International as the first international women’s service organization, one year before women in the United States won the right to vote.
Today, more than 5,000 Quota members, women, men, and youth, come together to help women and children overcome poverty, educational, and workforce challenges in 14 countries.
